Lomvi - Day 5 - Geanker and world peace

Dear friends!

Finally the weekend is here after a long week of no work.

We are still out in the big pond, no surprises there. And let us get straight into blog follower appreciation post.

Remember from yesterday our electrical issue. It smells like a solution is just around the next wave. Ingrid's (crew girl and Niko's girlfriend meeting us I Cap Verde) dad was reading our cry for help, and this morning we have a solution in our satellite phone email inbox. Thank you very much Erik!

Problem was configuration of our battery monitor. It was set up for acid batteries and not lithium.

Not going to lie, the captain's happiness is quite closely tied to the health and wellbeing our our boat, and he is a lot happier now that we have had a full day of no problems.

How are we sailing into the weekend you might wonder? In great amounts of relaxedness with genaker sailing all day today (Friday, half day Thursday).

The wind is forecasted to drop tonight, and we might have to apply propulsion from more unsustainable sources; our diesel fueled horsepowers made possible by volvo penta. We feel very lucky to have been sailing for a short week with no engine! (Except 2 hours along Gran Canaria) So it does not feel too bad to propeller around for a while. It will also top up our batteries that have been low for a while related to the issue discussed earlier.

We have eaten Indian curry, Bergen omelet, Atlantic banana bread, and later Italian lemon pasta. We probably have parmesan for a tall ship crew, because second worst possible crisis after capsizing, would be running out of parmigiano!

If we average 6 knots we make it to Mindelo, Isla something, Cap Verde Saturday evening. We believe that there will be a few slightly excited sailors there at that time. However, if we average 5 knots it will be early Sunday morning when all those happy sailors of yesterday are attending their recovery Sunday service. Probably also very fun!

Anyway we will be 91% excited to have completed this very very nice passage, and 9% filled with a longing back to the ocean. Lucky for us, after only a few days on land, we are setting sail for Grenada. This passage was 860nm, next is over 2000nm! Which only means that we will pour more sailing recaps that don't make any sense into this modern satellite blog format!

We hope your weekend will be filled with fireworks and everyone you meet only saying yes!

Bisous!
