This afternoon we sailed back from Tahuata to Hiva Oa and made a slight detour to provide an escort for Peat Smoke, the final World ARC boat to arrive in French Polynesia. They had a difficult trip, losing first their big jib and then their Parasailor and having to motor slowly for much of the remaining distance, running very low on diesel as they neared Hiva Oa.
We and three other boats (Trompeta, Matilda and At Last) took David and Caroline up to the Pearl Lodge hotel for dinner, to celebrate their arrival.
