Lexington - Captain Bob: 11/19/2017

We are hopping down the coast of South Africa while headed to Capetown. We have a good weather window and the weather has been benign. As it turns out, you leave right after a low passes which often puts you in the weather that is transitional. For that reason we have motored a good bit. Right now we are using our twin head sails in 8-9 knots of wind but we have 3.5 knots of current helping us do a COG of 8.5 to 9 knots. It is just like a women, nice and gentle until she turns on you and all hell bust out. Right now it is 22:00 11/19/2017 and we are about 80 mile from our next port, East London.
This is a free sailing time to Capetown. Most of the boats are sailing along with us. A few stayed to see more sights or to get stuff fixed. Most have plans to go home for the holidays.
My wife, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren are coming to Capetown to see the sights. It will be nice to share Africa with them. I am looking forward to it. I need to be on my best behavior because I am not the best traveler. I am hoping they have everything planned out so all I have to do is smile and tag along.
I have not taken any good photos to show. All I have is a selfie on watch. Notice I am wearing my safety gear even in this very calm weather.
May fair winds fill your sails with fresh winds and strong currents.
Bob
