Wild Iris - Log day 2 First night at sea. 6th Nov

Wild Iris and her crew are preparing for their first night of the ARC+ rally. Dinner cooked and eaten in bowls with spoons as too rolly in the cockpit for the usual cutlery and plates! Some fairly big waves made the run down the coast of Gran Canaria quite exciting. With the poled out Yankee we were going well, until the block on the spinnaker pole popped open and the head sail started to collapse, our first night time challenge. The rest of Monday saw the crew start try to get into the watch systems and sleep when possible. Does it get any easier?!
We were making good progress, the setting sun was a beautiful deep orange and a friendly dolphin followed us for a while. A great start to our adventure!
