Lexington - Captain Bob: Mauritius 10/19/2017

We are having lovely weather in Mauritius. The marina is very nice and in the adjacent area of town. The vendors lined up to help with boat repairs seem to be efficient and responsive.

I went to the Blue Penny Museum yesterday. Mauritius was early in using postage stamps to send mail to and from the island. The Blue Penny was one of the very early stamps. The one they had was in a case and they only turned the light on in the case periodically which I think was to preserve the coloring. They also had a good bit of info on the history of Mauritius as a colony of the Dutch and French.

I also went to the market in the main part of town. The marina area is much more dressed up and new for the tourist. The town across the street from the marina was much older and crowded. I just walked around to get a little flavor of the city. There was a large market for produce. The offerings looked very nice, clean and organized. I will show some photos.
We will do a tour set up by World Arc and the usual dinner for prize giving.
May fair winds fill your sails with interesting sights
