Lexington - 8/2/2017 Burning Point on Shaw island

We left Mackay yesterday and sailed to Burning Point on Shaw Island. We had an extremely pleasant gentle sail using our twin head sails most of the way. The highlight is that we had several whale sightings. I got a short video but no single shots that I can send from the boat. One whale surfaced right behind the boat probably not more than 75 feet behind the boat. That was a little close but that was the whales choice, as we were traveling on a straight course. You are supposed to keep away about 100 meters but as I say you can not control what the whales do. We grilled steaks with baked potatoes and a salad for a nice meal at anchor. I have been working on our trip plan which is not easy for me. I am not familiar with all the anchorages and it is hard to have the right distances between stops. As I have it we will have an overnight for the last leg. It is definitely easier to put in a start and end waypoint across an ocean and not worry about stops. I will close with a photo of our anchorage. May fair winds fill your sails with fresh wind and blue water and sunsets over your bow! Bob
