Spirit of Lusitania - Log Day 3 - Finally some wind

Finally the wind came. We had a good downwind sailing together with some zifius zifius dolphins.
We set up the SSB Radio for the first ARC Net Controllers. It's nice and fun to keep updated about the positions, weather conditions and share some sea stories from other boats on the ARC.
Later in the evening, our "Chef" prepared a very nice typical Portuguese dish; "Feijoada à Portuguesa", (beans stew with meat), very tasty, yummie!

The wind was strong and steady throughout the previous night, often reaching 25 knots with growing seas. Spirit of Lusitania handled the conditions beautifully, but sleeping amidst the myriad sounds, squeaks, bangs and even booms, became difficult. It is funny how some of these actually start to sound like a person speaking - a squeak becoming a quick "hi", or a squawk becoming a "what?".
On cold, overcast day like this one, a real treat - in fact a true bit of self-indulgence - is to take a hot shower. Spirit of Lusitania is a superbly comfortable yacht, and this includes being able to have a real stand-up shower! Yes, sailing is often a challenge and might include a bit of deprivation, but being clean always feels terrific and on Spirit of Lusitania it is nothing short of wonderful.
