Enigma - Day 3 - Trade Winds

Subject: Day 3 - Trade Winds
A wonderful nights sailing  where the Simbo rig was pulling us along at up to 8.4 kts came to an inconvenient end when the pole holding the windward clew snapped in two. The sail continued to pull well in its absence but we eventually decided to change over to genoa and mainsail. As for the two bits of aluminium spinnaker pole - they are now firmly lashed to our guard rails.

We have struggled to match our nighttime speeds with the more conventional rig but we are still making good progress. Cake and tea has been in good supply and the aroma of the tuna bake wafting up from the galley is lovely.

Allan, who has claimed to see a whale and a large fish today (we remain sceptical)   Is currently on the helm trying to better our average. He has hit 8.8 kts for a second.
Don't get him started on the green flash !

In the tropics now.

That's all for now !

Paul, Viv, Allan and Diane
