Paw Paw - Log Days 285 & 286: South Pacific Sailing Season Coming to a Close

After breakfast yesterday morning we hopped on the dollar bus bound for Nadi town, where Roy got a haircut and we bought what little provisioning we needed for our passage to New Zealand, given the amount of surplus ships stores we've had to work our way through as many items are not permitted to be brought into New Zealand.

Once we were back onboard, we spent the bulk of the afternoon cooking the remainder of our passage dinners before getting ready for our night on the town - An impromptu get-together with Nina, Do Over, Kiwi Beanz and Blue Summit at the Port Denarau Yacht Club, followed by a delicious dinner with Steve and Lynda at the Rhum-Ba Restaurant - New Zealand Lamb for the ladies and Seared Tuna for the men, completed with chocolate truffles for dessert. It was a fitting celebration of a wonderful South Pacific sailing season that is coming to a close and one that has been made extra special in the company of the WARC Drop Outs. Spe cial thanks to all our WARC and non-WARC sailing friends for the wonderful memories!

Today we spent the day onboard catching up with family in Ireland, submitting all our advance notice documentation to the New Zealand authorities, uploading photographs to the website gallery of our time spent here in Fiji, getting through a backlog of emails, checking equipment and working through our passage checklist.

This evening, after stopping by Do Over and Kiwi Beanz for a chat, we enjoyed another seafood dinner at Lulu's Bar and Restaurant, where we were joined by Blue Summit for an after dinner drink before heading back to the Port Denarau Yacht Club to watch the rugby with Kiwi Beanz. Congratulations to the All Blacks on their remarkable win! Lets hope the Springboks can get their act together before the next series.
