Majic-L - Majical WRC challenge - day 2

So, here we are this morning in a wet and windy Haslar marina. Had a funny start to the day - we have more eggs than you can shake a stick at so Tony offered to cook breakfast. After a bit of debate - fried, boiled, poached, scrambled we opted for poached eggs on toast for the 5 of us. Thing was, Tony knew what to do but two issues - he'd seen his wife doing them but hadn't done himself, so the "advice" started from his crew mates and you know what they say about "too many cooks" - how true! Then you know what they say about being in someone else's kitchen, well in a boats galley this is even more so as everything is stowed for travel so much searching for things like vinegar, ramekins etc. But it all turned out well and we enjoyed the eggs and all ready at the same time. He's been challenged to doing eggs benedict from scratch tomorrow but I think we are going to Wetherspoons in the High St.
We decided to visit the submarine museum nearby as somewhere interesting and mainly indoors. Turned out to be a good choice as a really interesting place with some good exhibits. Highlight was the tour of HMS Alliance, a fully restored WW2 era submarine where we had ex servicemen explaining life aboard for the submariners. There were lots of accounts from submariners so by the time we left we had a really good feel for what they experienced and the special breed of folk submariners are.
On the way back to our yacht, walking around the gangways, we almost had to practice a live "man overboard" drill when Tony slipped on the metal connecting plate whilst looking at the boats moored up, but all ok.
Richard and Dave went to the skippers briefing and Linda, Tony and I headed off to explore Gosport High St and up to Morrisons to stock up on a few things. On the way up the path to the electric gate to leave the marina, we spotted a couple of rats running around the moss covered rocks next to the harbour wall - maybe they eat whelks, sea snails or were just looking for food in the general garbage that's gets washed up at sea?
Spent the evening eating a very nice Coq au Vin that Linda had brought from home on the boat. RIchard fixed up the full canopy cover over the deck area at the back of the yacht so rain or shine tomorrow we can sit out there. We got some "Fursty Ferret" cans of beer that reminded me of the rats we saw earlier!
Fingers crossed that we are able to sail for Cherbourg on Sunday as we are all ready to go. In the meantime, tomorrow we'll be going over to Portsmouth on the ferry and visiting the Spinnaker Tower and maybe the Historic Dockyard.
