Calypso - A Brief History of Time

It might be Thursday, or Wednesday, or even January
---------------------------------------------------
Time is a funny thing when you're sailing, there's the day you set off,
and hopefully, the day you arrive, and then there's this sort of splodge
ot days in between. The day you leave has a name you'd all be familiar
with, maybe "Monday", or "Thursday" (though apparently "Friday" is bad).
The day you arrive is different, for everyone else it has a name, but
not for you, for you its just "today", and thats pretty much the same
for that splodge of days in the middle, a whole bunch of "todays".

So now throw into the mix the need to change the time as you make your
way across the ocean, and you have all the ingredients for at least an
hours discussion at watch handover as you try to agree on which day it
is now. We had our debate today, and we've decided today is "December".
Right now we're hopefully going to arrive "tomorrow"... in other words
on January!

And if you think that's a pretty inane discussion just be grateful we
don't post every late night conversation.

Yesterday (must have been November), was Burger Night... Big, Juicy,
Succulent, Mouth-watering burgers, in freshly baked buns, with all the
extras (well all the sauces, dressings and relishes we could muster),
followed by a home-made apple tarty sponge thing (yet another
"unintended dish" from Catriona). At least that was the plan. That would
be the plan that didnt survive the size of the burgers, so the apple
thingy is on the lunch menu for later toady (AFTER porridge).

As you might have guessed, food plays a pretty important part in daily
life around here. So much so that you can divide the day into roughly
four parts:

Part 1: What shall we have for dinner today?
Part 2: Lets make dinner!
Part 3: The Feeding Frenzy
Part 4: What shall we have for dinner tomorrow?

Well Catriona has managed to expand that for us - we now have "What can
Catriona come up with tomorrow?".

And that's more than enough food talk for one night!

Another Mahi Mahi today too, but this one was judged too small (about 4
kilos), so back it went after a brief flurrry of excitement. Hannah
really really wants to catch a Tuna and apparently a "small" Mahi Mahi
just doesnt cut the ice any more.

Must go now - we have to send our drinks order ahead, and there're only
275 miles between us and our respective tipples of choice.

Toodle pip!
