This morning, the World ARC office opened in the Hernan Café.
Situated on the busy seafront of Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz, it’s an ideal
location overlooking the anchorage. With only 6 days left until the start of
the 4th Leg to the Marquesas, a week of planning, relaxing and World
ARC functions await the fleet.
Fueling and water arrangements were booked through the World ARC agent, preparing
yachts for the biggest leg of the rally (approx. 3000 miles). From stories and
experiences shared already this morning, it would seem the Galapagos Islands
have not disappointed.
The rest
of the week will see yachts continuing to arrive. All are expected in by the 27th
giving time for a Prize Giving, Rally Supper, and a Skippers Briefing.
Tours on the Island give options to visit incredible snorkeling spots,
beautiful beaches and lava tunnels created by the islands volcanic past. But Puerto Ayora is also a good base to explore other islands.
The
Galapagos Islands have been a real treat for the World ARC fleet. This weekend is a long one lasting until Tuesday due to Carnival and the city of Puerto Ayora is bubbling with special events. Although the
following week will be busier in preparation, exploration of the most developed
island will no doubt be on the top of crews to do list.
