Bluewaft - Bluewaft Log Day 13: Igor behind the bar

Bluewaft Log Day 13
Friday 2 December 2016
18°57’.938N 040°36’.160W
Greetings from Bluewaft. A good day’s sailing, with the wind a just usable
8-10kts and clocking from 90° to 180°. We’ve been flying the gennaker,
then the white sails at night, and now we’re goose-winging with the
gennaker and jib. The wind is still clocking – so may switch to the
gennaker on a beam reach later today. Speed is averaging around 5kts – so
a little slower than we’d like, but at least we’re sailing!
Not a single bite on the lines yesterday, but this morning had two large
Mahi Mahi, one of which broke the real off and managed to get away (Marcus
just missed him with the gaff). Plenty of fish anyway!
Our Egrets have finally left us. After walking through the galley, Alex’s
bathroom, the herb garden and the bar, Igor and Ingrid flew off to the
west! We wish them a happy flight!
Yesterday’s sun-downers were “Painkillers”. (Dark rum, Cointreau,
pineapple juice, coconut cream, and nutmeg). They went down well with some
Bob Marley as we start to get into the Caribbean mood. For lunch we had
meat pies (complete with mushy peas) and for dinner BBQ fish (tuna and mahi
mahi). Looks like more fish today – although Marcus is threatening German
sausages!
Happy sails.
