Skyelark of London - Day 2

Day 2
Everyone in fine fettle having found their sea legs fast last night. It was
lovely to see the almost full moon reflecting on the sea on my 12 to 4am
watch. We goosewinged the head and the main for a while giving a smoother
ride for a time and I spotted a few pilot whales alongside fleetingly on the
starboard bow before they disappeared. In the morning 4 of the boys looked
spic and span after taking their first showers. Mike and Simon put out the
line for fishing this morning but sadly nothing caught today. However, I
have my winning lures pinky and perky yet to be tested and am confident of a
fine feast for tomorrow. Mainly poled headsail today and average wind 25kn.
Simon on the helm managed a speed of 11.9kn today, but I remain unbeaten
with my 12.3kn yesterday careering down a wave before reducing the headsail
with winds in the high 30s! Improvements will follow I'm sure. Mike and
Simon were on cooking duty tonight and provided an excellent bangers and
mash and a bit of vino with David and Tony on washing up duties. Winds
set to stay steady next few days as we head a bit further south. The few
boats on the horizon earlier seem to have disappeared and we look forward to
full moon tomorrow night. Lovin' it!
