Helen - Day 13 - red sky in the morning

Red sky at night, shepherd's delight, red sky in the morning, sailor's warning.

This tale of course was told by those who lived in the Northern Hemisphere from their experiences of our weather. This morning we had our red sky and it has brought us some stronger wind and the possibility of squalls to add to the strength.

However like most weather forecasts it is only an indication of what to expect and whilst the winds are stronger than yesterday we are making good progress. In fact we have now sailed over 2,000 miles in the last 12 days with less than 3 hours with the engine on.

On long journeys it is good to have the odd treat to help to pass the time away. So it is shortly afternoon tea and cake, then a sundowner with nibbles, a snickers bar half way through my night watch and because it is Sunday tomorrow, a full Irish breakfast including black and white pudding. This sailing business is tough you know!
