ARC+ fleet completed in Mindelo

The ARC+ fleet has been completed with Twenty Twenty’s arrival last night at approximately 1900LT. All 69 boats have now made it to Mindelo completing the first leg of the ARC+, Las Palmas to Cape Verde. Last night was the prize giving for the first leg of the ARC+ Las Palmas to Cape Verde. The evening dinner was catered by the charity SOS Aldeias that World Cruising Club supports in Sao Vicente. The charity focuses on helping homeless children in the local area and participants had the opportunity today to take their donations along to the centre visit. Prizes were awarded in all 5 divisions and participants thoroughly enjoyed evening performances from local dancers and artists. 

   

   

Crews’ are in high spirits and have been exploring the delights of Mindelo town since arriving, including markets and local handmade crafts.There have been tours to the neighbour island of Santo Antao, the largest of the Cape Verde Barlavento islands, where participants were guided around the mountainous volcanic landscape and .

The fleet have been making final preparations  ready to begin the second leg of the ARC+ rally Cape Verde to Saint Lucia, departing tomorrow the 15 of November at 1245 for Multihull division and 1300 for all the other classes.
