Rallies are open in Portsmouth, VA

31 October 2017

It’s been a busy first half of the rally week, majority of the boats have arrived and safety inspections have begun. Those boats that did not complete the inspection continue to work on projects, even with plenty of preparation the list goes on and on. The Hampton Yacht Club was generous to offer frozen homemade meals such as Chicken Pot Pie, Lasagne and other options for our participants to purchase. An easy meal for the first couple of nights while crossing the gulf Stream.

Seminars began with topics on SSB, Sat phones, troubleshooting diesels and common problems at sea. The women of the rally gathered together for a roundtable discussion. The main topics of concern, sea sickness, options to control and provisioning.

Sunday evening started the social events with a happy hour at Still Restaurant. Even with a pouring rain, everyone walked the 4 blocks to enjoy and evening of great conversation and getting to know one another. It continued onto Monday evening at Griffs Restaurant , the City of Portsmouth along with Ocean Yacht Marina Center, put together a welcome party for us.

With 5 more days to the start, work is continuous and all are excited to leave.
