NoStress - Log Day 9 - Making Hay

The sun has indeed been shining, sadly there’s been hardly any wind, so we took advantage of the conditions and did the things that are tricky when the boat’s bouncing around.

Des cooked up some of Jake’s catch of the day for brunch - the fish was delicious, I’ll be stealing his recipe before leaving the boat. Some of the fresh produce we packed is at the end of its life so this was used to prepare more meals to be frozen. The washing machine has been busy - the guard rails decorated throughout the day with shorts and t-shirts drying in the sun. Jake caught another two fish so we think Poseidon might be looking upon us with generosity. Everyone has managed to catch up with some long overdue sleep. And showers.

Showers. I’m now convinced that the people that work in advertising for toiletries and beauty products have sailed the ARC. I never believed it until today but I can confirm that my skin felt, and was visibly smoother after just one wash with Dove shower cream (other products are available). I suspect this might have more to do with the fact that it’s my first proper shower for three days and that I was matted and crusted with layer upon layer of dried sea water, rather than the “special blend of revitalising oils and extracts” - but I honestly don’t care.

Everyone is feeling revitalised and rested. We were visited by a pod of about 80 dolphins twice today - leaping and playing around us, bringing smiles to the faces of the whole crew.

Night preparations are all finished and the sun has just fallen at 19:15. The team are hoping that we catch the trade winds tomorrow and can switch from our current south-west heading and focus on the long haul west.

With much love from a happy, rested and freshly scrubbed bunch,

Alex & the NoStress Crew
