SuperTramp - BLOG DAY 6

So we find ourselves on day 6 still chasing the wind in pretty unpleasant conditions and a very uncomfortable swell.
I find myself comparing my trip on SUNBIRD in 2008 and thinking "how lucky was I?". This is a very different journey.
"You told me this would be easy mum, that I would get a suntan and catch lovely fish along the way!" I hear William saying. "It's character building' I reply, "and very early days". He is proving to be a great crew member and will put his hand to anything.
My wonderful Scottish crew are feeling at home as they could be on the West Coast of Scotland . We even had porridge for breakfast and I think the G n T's will be replaced by hot toddies tonight . Happy Days!
Cooking in the galley has been a challenge but with everyone doing their bit we have been eating well. Yesterday as I was making coffee we were hit by a huge wave that sent the coffee granules tumbling just as I opened the fridge to get out the milk. That was a fun clean up operation .
We have had company in the form of other ARC boats along most of the way as I think many are chasing the same small band of wind, so we have all been very vigilant on watch. I don't remember seeing so many boats last time, but maybe it's because we have AIS which we didn't in 2008.
Although we are all struggling with the lack of sleep, moral is high and we are all looking forward to some sunshine and calmer conditions, after all, we are traveling in the right direction …………the rum punch is calling .
750 miles gone and 1950 plus to go. St Lucia here we come.
