Bluewaft - Bluewaft Lof Day 2

Bluewaft Log Day 2
21 November 2016
26 01'.993N 016 10'.713W

We had a good nights sailing on Jib and Main with winds from 15 to 20 kts,
from E NE, allowing us to make good speed on our course south. About 9am
this morning the winds died. We altered course towards Cape Verde and plan
to follow this for about the next 180nm. We're expecting light winds for
the up to the next 3 days and then hopefully winds will pick up. We
decided this was on balance a better approach than the more northerly rhum
line as there is a significant danger of being becalmed at the end of the
week for the next week or so. Still, there are no certainties in the
weather!

The night watch was fairly uneventful. Marcus had to shine our searchlight
on a yacht that was getting to close. He responded and moved away.
Otherwise all quiet.

The first dinner was pizza (of course!). For lunch today we had a healthier
salad and fresh pasta (anchovies and pesto) cooked up. So far Marcus is
winning the 'spilled drinks award' - one wine and one coffee both with a
sweeping left hand and both on Alex's chair (Alex has so far managed to
dodge both).

Marcus is also leading the fishing competition - with a half meter stick
fish (we through him back). [See separate photo].

Looking forward to better winds soon.

Cheers
