Paw Paw - Log Days 122, 123 & 124: Changed in a Moment

With Olga and Denis in Bora Bora, we decided to use the few days to get some To Dos out of the way in preparation for our departure to Moorea early next week. In particular, taking the bus to Papeete on Tuesday to pick up a Duty-free Fuel Permit and getting some shopping done at the various chandleries and hardware stores.

Yesterday morning we decided to combine a dive with cleaning Paw Paw's bottom, but no sooner had we got our tanks ready with BCDs and Regulators attached, when one moment changed everything. As Elaine bent down to rest her tank horizontally on the cockpit floor, so that it wouldn't fall over, the lower part of her back exploded in pain. It was so intense she nearly passed out, but Roy managed to get her to the floor and then to her bed, where, unfortunately, she has stayed.

After coldpacks, voltaren and anti-inflammatories administered for the first 24 hours, we decided this morning that a consultation with a doctor was necessary. Our thanks go out to Dan on Do Over for all his help. It is greatly appreciated.

Now with Nurse Roy (whose Nursing skills are questionable) providing care, bed rest, a continuation of the other treatments, wifi setup on Paw Paw for Facebook and making phone calls to family and friends and high on muscle relaxers, there isn't much more a girl can ask for, except, maybe, some patience while her back heals!
