Barbara Jean - Day 4-Saturday Still no boats in sight

We continue to sail SE towards the 300 nm position that was suggested. Winds are directly behind us with the swells still mixed. We have a hammock netting that has fruit, potatoes, bread and buns on top that is hanging from the portside ceiling hand hold. It has been adjusted and secured several times as it is one of the traps or potential hazards down below.

The seas have settled a little so I will attempt to make breakfast….scrambled eggs, sausage and cheese wrapped in a tortilla. It was delicious!!!!

Morning role call went well except several rally boats did not participate. I like to write down the positions of each boat to get an idea of where everyone is at. I later learn that not everyone can hear the roll call, depending on their location. I tried hailing Annabella on the VHF earlier but no answer. I will try to get their position after we get Blue (downwind parasailor) out and set.

Blue hasn't been flown in a while and this will be the first time with a new setup so we take it slow and talk it through…..making sure the lines are set up correctly. Blue really likes winds above 5 knots and Lori likes winds below 15 knots. : The winds were ranging from 12-15 knots so up she went. Shortly after we launched Blue, one of the back blocks let loose and now all of the weight and force was on the stanchion. I looked at the wind gauge and the winds increased to 18-20 knots. Of course!! The force actually bent the stanchion. We quickly bring Blue back down and stow her for the day.

Lunch didn't happen with all of the excitement. But a couple of beers were necessary after that.

Dinner was Beef Tips, mashed potatoes, roll and a salad.

The night shifts were uneventful. All is well and spirits are high. www.thebarbarajean.com website will have to wait to be updated until we get into port and have better internet connection. I will add more pictures there.
