Agua Dulce - Half way to the Azores!

As I am typing this, we have just hit the halfway mark! We're closer to the Azores than to Bermuda, and we are sailing along nicely on a starboard tack with full genoa and half main right now and averaging 7.5 kts. After a day with more motoring than anyone enjoys, the winds picked up in the evening and we sailed through the night. They've continued in the 15-20 kt range all day, and we are making nice progress toward our destination.

It's a little more boisterous down below in the galley, so we're going to enjoy one of our frozen pre-prepared meals tonight - King Ranch Chicken Casserole (or chicken enchilada casserole if you're not from Texas and have no idea what King Ranch Chicken is).

We haven't seen any boats from the rally for the past 24 hours. A couple of tankers have gone past in the distance, but overall, we're pretty much the only ones around. Glad we like each other! We have designated Bill the ultimate tweaker. He can't go more than 5 minutes without tweaking the sails for optimum performance. I think he's reliving his racing glory days.

We still haven't caught a single fish - or had a hit for that matter. Jim saw an arctic tern with a fish in its mouth fly by, so we took that as a good sign that there are fish in these waters. Apparently, that is not the case, and the arctic tern is the luckiest bird over the Atlantic to have caught the one fish that was here. I'm just glad we are well provisioned and not counting on fresh fish for dinner in our meal plan.
