Crazy Horse - Day 3

After a wonderful dinner of West Indian Shrimp- hot but Bill and I loved it- it was a pleasant evening and i was able to sleep pretty well from 2100 to 0400. Then I relieved Matt from his watch. We have still been making good time going from 8 to 10 kts. on average. They predict 20-25 kts from the east so we are still going with our wing and wing sail formation. So far the weather reports have been right on. There are lots of clouds with strong passing showers and winds as we proceed past the Dominican Republic and getting close to Haiti. They did warn us that we might see some refugees trying to make their way across the Atlantic to safety. There are lots of big ships out here so they must be quite desperate to leave.

Matt and I had our old scrabble game going again. Won't say who won because it isn't important- how you play the game is all that matters. That was nice of him to humor me since it was Mother's Day. I did get to wish Lisa and Carrie a happy day over the sat phone.

We had such a strong squall that our new plastic window in the center part of the dodger has cracked. Until we get home duct tape will be the answer. The auto pilot quit working as well in the squall but came back on after a while. Don't want to have to hand steer the whole way home!

So that 's all for today. Trying to get Matt to write tomorrow. He will give you the real inside story!
