OOROO1 - Stormy Saturday !!
Wild wild 24 hours on board OOROO. The day delivered everything. Gennaker
up for a couple of hours in the morning through numerous small squalls, then it
decided to blow 24 knots in one squall and never stopped. 3.5m swell kept the
cat creeping over the waves. The Jensens were making a plan of attack for when
the Lagoon snapped in half. Jensens reckon they would survive longer as they
were on the side with all the food. 3 reefs in the main for most of the day and
night. Storms and rain. Wind dropped off about 4.30am so up went the all rounder
sail and now struggling to get a couple of knots out of the Atlantic. Fishing
4-2-0. (4 touchups, 2 hookups, 0 onboard). Mike got spooled in seconds and
lost his favourite Bubbletrail lazer 6”skirt. Mike is claiming a 200kg tuna
..... Flying zucchini fishing excelled last night with our best catch of 4
flying fish on the deck. Mike reckons things were smelling a bit fishy, only at
dawn to find a flying fish had landed up near the helm. No chance of cooking
last night so great salad for tea. Provisions going well. Water maker doing a
couple of hours a day, generator keeping the solar panels working (not much
sun). Banana cake, banana muffins, banana smoothies, banana pancakes. We reckon
banana curry could be next. No bananas in the Caribbean for us !!
