Hugur - 14., 15. and 16th November

Day 6 Friday 14th November, 2014

Steady gooswinged sail through the night and today.

Bright and beutyful morning peaceful Atlantic ocean.

Kristofer has been fixing the watermaker and is still.

Uneventful day otherwise, scool of dolfins again today playing with
Hugur on the bow, some flying fish but did not land on deck.

We had a big China freight ship pass us within a mile, quite scary as it was approaching but we spoke with him on the VHF and he said he would pass a head of us.

Anticipation for landfall ahead we see boats come up Lily and Zera this morning have passed us. I even heard them on 72 this morning first time I hear something of the ARC+ people on the VHF think it was Lily speaking to someone about the boat with the rudder problem, I do hope everything is well with 44.com.

Our estimated time in Cape Verdes is around 10-11 on Saturday morning.

Day 7 Saturday 15th November, 2014

Woke up just before my shift at 8 we were still on gooswinged but the wind is a little light so we are doing 5knts 20nmiles to the finishline.

We changed the sails to the other side and could stear a better course and make faster headway

As we came into the channel between the Islands the wind picked up and we flew now at speed up to 9knts still gooswinged and made it past the finishline at 10.18UTC.

Made our way to the fuel pontoon and refuelled and then settled into a berth in quite windy condition.

We are berthed between Lily (Amel 54) and Infinity B, a Najad 460, on pontoon E. Kristofer has gone into checkin, as because Pascal has only got this afternoon for interwiew as he flies home tomorrow.

It is very windy here happy people on the pontoons and the Marina staff with a welcome drumbs and drinks. We went to crew supper but must hurry to rest cause its up early in the morning for a daytrip to Sant Antao.

Sunday 16th November, 2014

We went tho the Crew supper last night and met our Swedish Icelandic friends from Ayama amongst others. It was also fairwell supper for Pascal the journalist from Germany who leaves Cape Verdes on Sunday.

We went early to bed since we have a early rise for The Santo Antao trip.

Now we have come home from this amazing day trip, with a very nice fellow Gilliard who was wery knowlegdeable and informative about his nation, the Cape Verdians and its history. The nature of this volcanic island is fabulous and undescribably beautiful and scary at times, while driving the brick roads handaide brick roads around the Island and watching all these also hand lade “terraces” for the agricultural use of the steep hills of Santo Antao.
A marvelous trip and im alredy looking forward to morrows half day tour on Sao Vicente.

Kristofer had bought tickets to all events so we will be doing another crew supper tonight and hopefully meet with Brenda and Thane of Asylum who I think came in late last night.

Enjoiyng every minute!
