World ARC 2022 Arrives in Mauritius

16 October 2022

Following the arrival of Amazing Grace today, 16 October, the whole of the World ARC 2022-23 fleet is now safely berthed at Marina Le Caudan in Port Louis, Mauritius. This will be good news for all the crews and those following them after the fleet had some a very challenging conditions whilst crossing the Indian Ocean from Cocos (Keeling) Islands during the last fortnight. The crews will certainly be pleased to be gathered together again.

Clearances in Mauritius took place at the Custom steps in Port Louis which was quite a quick and straightforward procedure. Once international clearances were complete, yachts could lower the ‘Q’ flag and motor over a short distance to the mooring basin at Le Caudan

Upon arrival, each crew member was greeted with a welcome pack, kindly organised by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority. The packs included a bottle of Green Superior Rum from Mauritius and other local treats. The local rum was very much appreciated after the rough and tiring passage.

The fleet made a quick passage and so now have more time than scheduled to enjoy the delights of Mauritius. In the next days, participants will gather for a Welcome Drinks evening and at the end of the week all crews will join the World ARC tour that includes a visit to the Botanical Gardens and "L'Aventure du Sucre", a museum regarding the production and commerce of sugar in Mauritius, plus a visit at Chateau La Bourdonnais with rum tasting experience included.
