Sweet Dream - Day 2 January 14, 2019

Midnight, a solid bank of of squall hands over the port horizon. To starboard, a golden half of Colby moon sinks into fat gilded clouds. Tonight, Venezuela lies ahead. A place we absolutely DO NOT wish to go. The wind is contrary, nudging us over a few more degrees every hour as it clocks around. Gybing and moving the spinnaker pole in the darkness is not our favourite double-handed activity, so we carry on. We haven’t quite caught the rhythm of this Caribbean Sea sailing yet. Seems we are always in the wrong tack, being pushed farther and farther from our desired rhumb line. Daylight finally comes, we move the pole and gybe a 270 degree tack in a howling squall, now moving away from the hostile coast. We have added another zig to our zag, sip fresh coffee and hot tea in contentment as a perfectly full rainbow colours the morning sky. This is a better heading, and we settle in to enjoy the ride while living the Sweet Dream
