Lexington - On to Bora Bora

We went to Bora Bora today. It was a short distance as the crow flies but we had to go south before heading northwest to be able to get out of the reef. These islands have shallow reefs around their outer edge. The reefs keep the water near the island coast calmer. There are only a few spots where the reef opens up into a deep entrance. You just can not go anywhere. I will send photos of the waves at the reefs as we left Tahaa. The second thing that slowed us down awhile was that I hooked a significant fish. I tried to wear it out for over an hour. We were sailing along at 3-4 knots and it was right along with us. It took a lot of line at first. I set the drag a little tighter. I did not want to try to horse it in. When the pole would have a little less bend, I would reel in a little. I had it near the boat with about 75 feet of line out. I switched from the right side to the left. A couple of times we could see a color flash under the water. The last time he went to the left the line broke. The line looked a little frayed. I think when he went to the left the line went over a tooth and broke. No photos available.
