World ARC 2016 Fleet assembles in San Blas

23 January 2016

After a quick passage from Santa Marta World ARC 2016 is now arriving in San Blas, Panama.

San Blas is a remote archipelago lying just off the north coast of Panama well off the normal tourist routes and for those lucky cruisers who sail this coast on their way to Panama they present a paradise of small white sandy islands and coconut palms, most only rising a couple feet above the Caribbean Sea. The archipelago is composed of 365 islands - one island per day! - of which only 49 are inhabited.

After a free cruising period during which they can explore this beautiful area the World ARC fleet will rendezvous on the island of Chichime where they will be joined by Rally Control.

First to be spotted has been Alcedo of Ryme followed by Belafonte. Both yachts are at anchor in the stunning lagoon in front of Chichime Cay.

The fleet will enjoy a beach "pot-luck" lunch with coconuts and coco loco - the coconut water mixed with rum.

During the rendezvous the fleet will also be briefed on the formalities and procedures waiting for them in Shelter Bay Marina in preparation for the Panama Canal transit.
