With the start of ARC Europe & ARC USA on May 6th fast approaching boats will be starting the transition from cruising mode to preparation for the long passage ahead. With the two fleets combined it will feel busy on the docks with 37 boats in Nanny Cay, 2 boats starting from Portsmouth, VA and a further 3 joining in Bermuda. With around half of the boats sailing in their first World Cruising Club rally and the others having sailed with us before it's a great mix of crews, from many countries, and boats from an Albin Vega 27' to a Lagoon 620!
The bulk of the fleet is starting from Nanny Cay in the BVI which will look and feel a little different this year with the opening of the new outer marina development.
Back in December there was an opening ceremony for phase one and now 41 of the planned 120 slips are open. If you have been before the entrance to the marina will look a little different, and if you are coming to Nanny Cay for the first time it will likely look different to your charts and cruising guides. The image below in particular shows the new channel marks that you will see on your approach. Nanny Cay marina monitors VHF 16 and will switch you to a working channel to assign your slip number and come meet you on the docks to assist with lines.
