Settling into the Galapagos

After crossing the equator, 27 out of 32 boats of the World ARC Fleet have now arrived in Puerto Baquerizo, San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands. On arrival crews have to be checked in with various authorities, customs & immigration whilst at anchor before they have permission to take a water taxi ashore to explore the beauty that the Island has to offer.

Every evening there is a nightly rendezvous for crews to gather and share stories of their equatorial crossing where they compared routes and the size of fish caught during the passage over a welcomed cold cocktail.

As soon as the entire fleet is reunited in Baquerizo the tours to Kicker Rock will start for crews to have contact with the diverse range of tropical sea life. World ARC yachts have a permit to cruise within three islands of the Galapagos archipelago which means a free cruising period will start when the programme in San Cristóbal ends.

The remainder of the fleet is expected to arrive in Galapagos by tomorrow, Thursday 18.
