Lexington - 3/27/17. Hakahau Bay , Oa Pou island, Marquesas

We pulled into Hakahau Bay on the northeast aspect of the island of Oa Pou which is part of the Marquesas Islands. It is the capital of this island and has a few thousand inhabitants. The Bay has a nice breakwater. A breakwater is a manmade (usually ) spit of land projecting out into the bay to break the swell action that tends to come in a bay from miles and miles away, several hundred depending on where the wind is from and how long it has been blowing.
We are going to go into the town and look around. We have heard that there is a nice little restaurant within walking distance. We also might take the usual drive tour around the island.
We will probably go to another Bay this afternoon. The photo is of the town area at the end of the bay.
