Timshel - St Lucia to Santa Marta Day 5

Distance Run noon to noon:135.1 nm. It was all going so well, making 6 maybe 7 kts in the sunshine. Why were people on the evening radio sched complaining about having to motor? A few hours later of course wind went light, not strong enough to power over the swell, foresail and main sail alternately slatting and banging and shaking the whole boat. BUT we were still making about 5 knots, only occasionally dropped to 4 so continued like this for the rest of the night. In the morning we rounded our waypoint off Pen de La Guajira, and hardened up onto a nice reach (at last) with all white sails drawing. Pleasure shortlived as squalls with heavy rain had us rushing to reef. We are getting there, but distance to go still more than a return trip across the channel to Cherbourg. This mornings sched was shorter as several boats already arrived. It'll probably be just us and maybe Zeeland tomorrow morning. NB Have been reading Winston Graham's Poldark on Kindle, so far seems TV series was a faithful representation of the book, even down to the Cornish dialect, but note he does not take his shirt off (only his coat) to do the scything.
