Paw Paw - Log Day 151: A Long Night

We had a good night weatherwise last night, all things considered, but the worst of the storm is forecasted to hit tonight. We also heard from Do Over today who left for Tahaa on Sunday and they've changed anchorages a few times in order to get the best protection.

It's definitely going to be a long night for a lot of sailors in the Society Islands, but we can't help but wonder about the rest of the WARC fleet. They are currently suppose to be enjoying free-sailing time in Tonga and Fiji, but these winter storms are coming all the way up to the lower latitudes, which is extremely unusual, passing over them first before making their way eastward to us. It didn't help matters to see on the news that these storms have given Australia's Gold Coast the worst in years. We trust that Do Over in Tahaa, Heidi in Bora Bora, Corango in Raiatea and Kiwi Beanz in Moorea, together with the rest of the fleet in Tonga and Fiji have all found safe havens, along with ourselves and Nina her in Huahine, until this mess passes.

In the interim, Elaine thinks she's turning into someone she doesn't know, nevermind what Roy must be thinking as he watches her hurtle from one domestic task to the next. She was up early this morning, made breakfast, did the laundry, including all the bedding off both our beds, put out clean sheets and towels, cleaned up and baked. Roy, on the otherhand is turning back into a technocrate. He's spent the entire day on the laptop trying to resolve a problem with our Raymarine Passage Planning software. Let's hope this weather passes soon so we can get our lives back to normal and sanity can prevail once more!
