Paw Paw - Log Day 102: A Day of Unexpected Pleasures

After a stormy night, we woke to sunshine, flat seas and calm winds. The perfect day to snorkel the "Aquarium" - the name given to the reef which surrounds the moto at the inner end of the Tiputa Pass.

The minute you stick your face in the water, you realise just how apt the name is. The first thing that strikes you is the beautiful colours of the coral - yellow, shades of greens and blues, purple, red. It takes a few moments to then look beyond that and see the abundance of sealife. There were multitudes of fish, of every kind, including black-tipped sharks and an enormous eel, whose head and body was as thick as a dolphins. In fact, at first, we thought it was a dolphin trapped in the coral. The fish were so friendly they actually followed us around and came right up to our masks - Looking for food, no doubt, but enough to make you giggle under the water anyway!

We then decided to explore the inner coast of the lagoon and foun d a lovely snack bar, where we hope to enjoy a tasty lunch in the not too distant future.

After lunch aboard and an afternoon nap, we headed to Josephine's to try and Facetime Keenan, Brooke, Capri and William. Unfortunately the wifi connection wasn't strong enough for video, but we did manage a phone call and got to speak to everyone, including William who was definitely telling me a "wee story". To add to the pleasure we got to watch dolpins jumping over the standing waves in the pass as the tide rushed out of the lagoon.

On our dinghy ride back to Paw Paw we were called over by Andy. Needless to say, it was a good few hours later before we eventually got "home" after enjoying a lovely evening and sundowners on Into the Blue.

It was, indeed, a day full of unexpected pleasures!
