Mojeka - Mojeka – Transatlantic Day 9

18:37:00 UTC Thursday Nov. 26, 2015
Position: 14.694036N, 46.993504W

BIRDING in MIDATLANTIC!

when Africa travellers like us get tired of looking for those big five that hide from us, we become birders.

Same thing here.

So far we have identified (and eaten) 2 types of fish: Dorado and Amberjack. To be exact, we saw three if we count the flying fish.

George and Roger have been twice as successful with birds, identifying 4 species:

Wilson’s Petrel, Cory’s Shearwater, White Tailed Tropic Bird and Masked Booby. To be exact there are five if we count the flying fish!

Not the abundance of birds you get in the Okavango Delta, but considering the environment, that is not bad going.

So next time you come past here bring your binoculars, forget the lures!

Klaus

PS with winds between 16 and 25kt we still can’t fly our Gennaker and are making steady but relatively slow progress as a result. The weather charts predict unchanged conditions all the rest of the way. ETA late on December 1. We shall see.
