Bluewater Mooney - 02.12.2022

Good morning,

The night went on ok.

This morning I knocked off and stowed the Parasailor Spinacker, and instead hit the Code 0 Spi. Code 0 are sails made "oversize" for light wind instead of a normal one. So there is Code 0 Genoa (upwind sails) and Code 0 Spi (downwind sails)

Then Nicole woke up, drank coffee - the time has to be - and then set the code 0. 220 square meters of the lightest material for wind speeds between 12 and 20 kn. Below that it can happen that the wind dies down completely and the spi is pushed into the rig by the stagnant air in front of it, and that's somewhere between 'never mind' and 'disaster' if it gets caught there. Therefore, every possible precaution is taken that there are no acute angles where it can get stuck.

As you can see in the photo, it's pretty impressive. And without an inscription. Had to be sacrificed for weight reasons!
We notice immediately after setting the spi that sailing with two people is different than with a full crew. Nicole gets down to the fruit supplies and searches our fruit net extensively from above. I dispose of the organic waste in the sea. By the way: we collect our rubbish in a sail bag and dispose of it in Saint Lucia. Even with banana peels, we discussed whether they should still be considered organic waste or hazardous waste because of the spraying - result: organic waste. And the Bluewater Mooney with her spi keeps herself busy and rushes ahead. An occasional look through a deck hatch is enough!

I'll send two more photos in a moment - so you can see what Nicole looks like ready for action. Oh no - here Spi and Nicole, right away fruit net.

William
