Into The Mystic - Day 6

Blue ocean surrounds us and it feels very isolated now as no chatter on the VHF radio today, I mean like zero. Normally it’s abuzz with the chatter of boats calling other - buddy boats or cargo ships calling each other. It was fun hearing other yachts we have seen in the marina in Las Palmas or boats which we can see on AIS calling each other. But today nothing…..

We did see a bird and honest to god a soccer ball or a football for my European friends. And yes you guessed it, I bellowed out in my best Tom Hanks voice “WILSON!!!!!! NO WILSON”.

Early this morning I had the dog watch shift 3am-7am. My least favourite, especially when we had wind last night and it was rather exciting. I feel like I’m in some sort of manic/depressive episode the last week. Crazy buzz when fuelled by adrenaline and chocolate or days when I’m severely sleep deprived and exhausted. Today is the later. But if history is anything to go on tomorrow I’ll be all buzzing again.

Since we passed the Cape Verde islands yesterday it feels real. Like, there is no turning back and just 2000 miles of ocean in front of us. I do believe anyone who chooses to do this must be a little mad. Airports and flying places always seemed a chore before but I’m starting to appreciate air transportation more and more these days.

No fish to report . Tony's ankle is getting slightly less swollen. The crew is still getting on so, all is well. I have a Lasagne in the oven for dinner and looking forward to my much more reasonable 9pm-1am watch this evening. Hope everyone is stilled fuelled up on turkey and stuffing.

Lots of Love
