Misty Mhor - Mhor Magic Friday 26th

Wow, I had a hot shower last night and we washed the dishes with hot water! It’s surprising how not having running hot water (not much of an issue south of the Tropic of Cancer) transforms the quality of life when it returns. The constant pressure from our raised header tank at last flushed the remaining air bubbles out of the system. Credit all round.

Overnight we were heading 251 deg M (270 is West) motoring along at 6 knots with fully charged batteries and full water tanks. Château de Watermaker produced a clear clean light bodied vintage without the hints of diesel and plastic mentioned before. We are hurrying to drop further south west as high winds are predicted to descend from the north over the weekend.

The passage is a lot steadier and sleep was easy, particularly after such a good dinner. There is no competition of course, but Dugald treated us to a guacamole starter with biscuits, which he called a sundowner as we ate on deck and watched the sun disappear. The main course was spiral pasta in an onion garlic source accompanied by fresh tuna with carrot and lettuce salads. We finished off with fingers of fresh pineapple. You can’t complain when the chef not only marinades and cooks the tuna but catches and fillets them himself.

My watch is 12-02 and there isn’t another yacht within 10 miles of us. They show up as icons on the chart plotter if they have an AIS emitter switched on. Not everyone does however so I have to keep a careful eye out.

I’ve finished Where the Crawdads Sing, which I fully recommend. It left me feeling both elated and sad, so I’m having a rest from reading.

Top tip to anyone who sends emails to ARC boats using Iridium email addresses. Don’t ever send large files. I can’t download anything as my phone is still trying to get a mega file. We will probably be in Rodney Bay by the time I have it.

After a very good sleep we had breakfast while sailing on a beam reach at 7 knots in 11 knots of a northerly breeze. We even had toast and marmalade as well. The wind has been pretty constant all day so we ending today having enjoyed a pleasant steady sail.
