Morgane of Sark - Thursday evening update

Yes, we finally have some pressure in our sails and we are moving in the right direction!! Course over ground is currently 270 degrees and our speed over ground is between 6,5 and 8 knots. So, we are getting closer to Grenada. Yeah!!

Last night we changed our sails several times, from main and jip on port side, to butterflying, and back to both on port side. If you see our track, you probably think we were drunk. We had the auto pilot on the wind angle and were either heading to Brazil or to Florida. With a speed between 3,5 and 4,5 knots and a lot of noise from the “flapping” sails. Not that much fun…

But, we didn’t want to put the engine on yet as we were still moving forward and we don’t want to use diesel if not needed. We are a bit reluctant to use our gennaker. We had some problems taking it down before. We could have gone probably faster, about one mile every hour if we had used it yesterday. But, we felt more comfortable with the “regular” sails.

Anyway, today was a much better sailing day and now in the beginning of the evening the Northeasterly wind is a little over 15 knots. That’s exactly how we like it!

Life was good at the Morgane of Sark today. We had with a visitor this morning. A small fluffy brown bird came into our cockpit. Sat there for a while. Herco tried to give him something to eat and water. After a while, he took of again. We also found a flying fish inside the boat. Must have jumped through a window. Fellow was still alive, so we threw it back into the water.

Further no interesting wildlife around us today. And again no luck with our fishing gear. Only seaweed on the hook. Wonder where all that seaweed comes from.

We are entering our 7 th night and we truly enjoy our time together on the ocean. Time passes pretty fast.

Current position: N 11* 38.04 W 37* 48.27

Almost sailed 800 miles and another 1450 miles to go!
