Jubilate Mare - Birthday Fun!

Hello to you all wherever you are and thanks for reading this - well hopefully someone out there is otherwise I shall be very disappointed.

Things have been hotting up here, sun getting stronger by the day and frivolous fun was had celebrating Koen's Birthday yesterday. Koen (pronounced Coon) is Dutch and we also have a Canadian, Robert, aboard. I put up a Birthday Banner and we opened a bottle of fizz, at happy hour, to mark the occasion. Smoked salmon canapes were enjoyed and presents opened.  I then introduced Koen and Robert to the delights of Pass The Parcel - a game neither had ever played before. I'd added forfeits for extra amusement and a good time was had by all. Pete impressed us by reciting the alphabet backwards at great speed and Tom brought the house (or should that be boat?!) down with his joke. All in all a very good time was had and after supper we tried to light a candle on the cake, and failed because of the wind, but Happy Birthday was sung with gusto and Koen generously pretended to blow out the unlit candle!

Bread and ice makers continue to enhance boat life but the best new addition has to be the washing machine. Having lived aboard, for two and a half years, without one I can not praise Pete highly enough for having installed this. Who would ever have imagined that doing the washing could bring such happiness! We have less than 1,000 nm to go now so time is running out to catch a fish and we have all had a guess as to when we might actually make landfall. The nearest call will be bought drinks by everyone else.

As I write delicious smells are coming from the galley - Tom is making Lasagne for tonight's supper, and I can hear the jolly sound of ice cubes tumbling into the dispenser. I think that's my cue to sign off for today, I do believe a G&T is calling. More tomorrow - or whenever. Bee at sea
