The Saoirse Diaries

Banana bread and a shopping plan

We are checked in now, with number 345, and are through our safety check. Did you hear that sigh of relief? So you might say thunder birds are go. The full final week’s programme kicks off today. We have a couple of seminars on the agenda this morning and our crew dinner in the evening. In between we hope to fit in a big shop! We had actually hoped to do the shop yesterday but the festivities over the last week, culminating on Saturday night with another family BBQ on the pontoon and a lively singalong until the wee small hours, (naturally fuelled by not inconsiderable amounts of alcohol ) took it’s toll. Instead of dragging ourselves half dead around the supermarket unable to think straight we felt a better use of the day would be to make banana bread and chill. Seemed like an excellent idea at the time, those banana’s really needed using up believe me, but as we sit here looking at our schedule for the next week we wonder what on earth were we thinking? We made banana bread? Like that’s a priority! Bloody Idiots!

So yes we still have the provisioning to do, (followed by the mammoth task of figuring out where to put everything we bought). We also have a few bits of kit to get for our new up haul down haul system for the new sail, and fill up the fuel tanks other than that we are more or less through. Well that’s if you don’t count the wish list things like sorting out some Christmas presents for the kids so it’s not a mad dash when we get to the Caribbean, knackered after a month at sea, or getting out for a sail to try out the new sail and rig, or giving Saoirse a big clean. We also REALLY need to do another kids activities shop because our little monsters discovered all the goodies we had hidden for the crossing and well you know the rest eh! I’m doing it again aren’t I? getting side tracked. Right so let’s focus on the shopping, on just getting the food sorted that would be good. That ought to be the priority, yes definitely a priority. Definitely. Today definitely. Yes, yes I know I said that yesterday and the day before but today, no excuses, the shop is on! Definitely
