Sweet Dream - Day 237 September 9, 2019

Last day in Australia. In the morning we made a provisioning run for fresh stuff. When we came back, we organised the the first fridge just as a cooler and the second fridge into a freezer. Everything fit! Yay! We had a fast and easy check out with the lovely border patrol folks, then chatted with John and Lynnie who are crewing in Alora until it was skipper’s briefing time. This was a special treat with Andrew Bishop in attendance, and giving the sailing directions. I know it is his job, but it does give us a very warm, well looked after feeling to have the director of the World cruising club not only having seen us off in St. Lucia, but he travelled half way round the world to be here in Darwin to oversee the start of the second half of our journey. After the meeting, we indulged in Frying Nemo’s fish and chips, tempura vegs, (which were delicious!) Peter, the wood wizard, came by with our beautiful new cabinet door, Lars sold our old big dinghy motor to Mick, a local resident of the marina, and we chatted awhile with Larissa and Tyler, who are crewing to Lombok on Charm. Then, as the sun went down, we went back to the boat to get her ready for our 07:00 departure tomorrow. Dress flags down, kayaks secured, rig checked, small things stowed inside, and one last episode of Black Sails watched on the big tv that only works with dock power. We took a little thank you gift pack to Dani and Cooper for being such excellent hosts to us here at Tipperary Waters Marina, and I felt that old pang of parting from new friends.
