Timshel - Lombok to Christmas Day 3

Again sailing all day with the Cruising chute, more wind and slightly lumpy sea so hand steering. The current is sweeping us NW, wind is SE. Doused chute before sunset and put up white sails to go closer to the wind as now to leeward of our track. Wind and sea increased during the night, even with 1 reef in the main (rolled to first batten) and staysail furled we had a lively ride, good progress partly because of the favourable current. In the morning we reefed the sails more, going nearly as fast in more comfort. We deployed the shark (towed charger) last night so we didn't have to run the generator this morning. With more breeze the wind charger is giving us more, the solar panels work best in the morning as on a westerly course they are shaded by the sails in the afternoon (and of course they do not produce power at night). We may arrive at Christmas Island Thursday evening/Friday morning at this rate.
