On our passage from Japan to Alaska we had some difficulties with our weather router. After reaching Adak, we were informed of the presence of one Rich Courtney, who works at the NWS office in Kodiak and is most
willing to help cruisers with weather information. I would hope that when he retires from the NWS, he will become the Southbound Two of the Northern Pacific!

His e-mail address is; I am confident that my passage from Japan to Alaska would have been much faster and more comfortable had I been in touch with Rich, and would heartily recommend him to
others taking this route - or sailing anywhere in the Northern Pacific.
