I've made this 75 mile run from Masonboro Inlet to Bogue Inlet North Carolina a good half dozen times in my Pearson 30 to attend the Beaufort Music Festival with a bunch of pals. This year, we would have to leave on Friday (5/21) and unfortunately the forecast is calling for winds out the NE and ENE later in the day. Since the straight shot would mean a course of 62 deg inlet to inlet, we may have to run pretty far offshore adding some miles to the trek. We would like to get through the inlet before dark, so if we leave by 6am, we would only have 14.5 hours or so. What do you all think? A good adventure and a good idea? Or are we asking for trouble.

My experience? Weekend warrior who loves to cruise in the ocean for an hour or two during the summer when time permits. I've chartered boats in the BVIs, but this is the biggest "passage" I make.

Thanks!!
