Hello All,

I am developing a weather routing system. It's designed to calculate the fastest route from one point to another using the forecast wind,
current, and sailboat performancce data. I think it's reached a level of maturity where it could stand some real world testing. It's current
features are:
  • Wind modeling using NOAA GFS data
  • Ocean current modeling using NOAA OSCAR data
  • Configurable polar (create/save your own)
  • Comfort criteria (max wind fwd/aft of the beam)
  • Land avoidance
  • Global coverage
  • Intuitive web interface
  • Mobile friendly
  • Email responder for low bandwidth HF/Sat use (similar to Sailmail service)
You can access the system here:
http://www.fastseas.com/

Directions are provided on the landing page, but probably could stand to be improved.

Let me know if you have feedback, suggestions, or questions.

Regards,
Jeremy

What's New at FastSeas?

Well, the awesomeness of FastSeas + Windyty! That's right! The incredible weather visualization capabilities of Windyty are now built into FastSeas. Other recent changes include:
  • The GFS forcast has been extended from 10 days to 16 days, permitting calculation of longer passages.
  • You can now export the routing solution as a KMZ, KML, or GPX file, which you can then import into navigational software and GPS/plotter devices.
  • You can get routing solutions emailed to you as a KMZ or GPX file. Including via Sailmail, Winlink, and Iridium Go!
  • We have added forecast dates to the automatic email response - providing complete information about what source data was used to calculate the route.
More changes are in the works, and I welcome your ideas and feedback.

Regards,
Jeremy
