We are looking to winter 2014-15 in the Caribbean and then enter the 2015 TransPac leaving LA about July 1.
It is my understanding that it is 'possible' to sail up the coast from Panama by staying close and choosing favorable days/winds- Jimmy's wind roses indicate there are not 'always' headwinds. Has anyone done this? How much time should we allow to 'stay close and choose favorable days/winds'? We have no real schedule other than to be in LA mid-June - and would like to see the west coast. Our boat sails very well to windward but not interested in beating ourselves up either. Also prefer not to sail to Hawaii twice in a season!
Thanks much in advance.
