Hi from Alan,
Best time to cross from Europe to the Caribbean options:
Getting out of the Channel and across Biscay is the first stage, a good time is usually october, then make your way southwards along the coast of Spain & Portugal and across to the Canaries.
One option is to join the ARC run by World-Cruising which starts in late november each year and gets you to St Lucia by Christmas.
You can head southwards earlier, depends upon your time available. Out of the Channel with a stop in Camaret in NW Brittany... then across to La Coruna or round the corner to Bayona in NW Spain... work your way down the coast of Portugal to Cascais (Lisbon) etc and then around Cap St Vincent to Lagos... is a tried and tested route.
